Mugs & Jugs Podcast Episode 5 - Mom guilt

Whether it’s something you you feel society is placing on moms (probably), something we place on ourselves (most likely), or just another part of motherhood (I hope not), mom guilt is real.

This week, we’re each taking turns sharing the one big thing that gives us mom guilt. After a couple episodes of light fluffy chatter and tons of laughter, we are digging deep, getting real, and dropping some #truthbombs. We hope you enjoy the raw mom-esty*.

*Mom-esty = mom honesty… just trying it out. Does it work?

Let us know what you think of the episode by leaving a note for us below. We’d love to know what your mom guilt is and how you’ve gotten past it (if you have). Please also feel free to leave any questions or requests for future topics.

Thanks for listening!

Why is there so much mom guilt around feeding?! My milk didn’t come in until day 5 (so late!) I had it in my mind that I was going to breastfeed and it was going to be glorious but that was not my reality for the first few weeks baby had a great latch but the milk just wasn’t there so he would SCREAM at me. It was 3 am he’d been screaming for 45 minutes and my husband found my rummaging through boxes in the dark for formula samples. I fed him 2 oz of ready feed formula and he stoped crying.. but I started. Logically I know, and told myself all through my pregnancy fed is best. But in that moment I felt like the biggest failure. Dumb.
Also, pumping is so hard, we exclusively pumped for 5 weeks until babe would take the boob again. It’s so much work!

Mom guilt sucks. It would be great if we could all just stop judging and making people feel like crap.

Amen to all of this. Pumping seriously feels like such a huge waste of time, especially when the house is a complete mess! Ha! It’s so much better when we all support each other and celebrate all the moments together – good and bad. Thanks so much for sharing your experience and for listening!
